What are the benefits of PVC pipes and fittings?
PVC pipes are superior to most other modern materials due to environmental friendliness, chemical resistance, inherent toughness, heat resistance, and being electrically non-conductive/non-corrosive. PVC pipes are can significantly contribute to reductions in water leakage and water savings, due to its non-corrosive, durable, and strong binding nature (with other pipes). Alternative metal pipe materials (iron, steel, copper) are vulnerable to corrosion and premature failure. Concrete and clay pipe materials are prone to cracking or fracturing which results in leakage or contamination. Further, PVC pipes are light enough in weight, that more PVC pipes are transportable per truck load than metal pipes. PVC’s flexibility enables it to resist cracking and leakage
Because of the resistance of PVC pipes to chemicals (e.g. acids, pesticides, etc.), the PVC pipe is used broadly in agricultural farming, where the pipes are exposed to destructive soils, fertilizers, and chemicals. Even salts corrode metal pipes, but not PVC pipes. In the long run, PVC pipes save the buyer money because they do not have to be replaced as often as corrosive metal pipes.
Pipes and fittings comprise the largest portion of PVC usage for building and construction. PVC has become the leading material for large diameter buried pipelines installed by both water and wastewater utilities as well as for smaller diameter drain waste and vent (DWV) piping. CPVC pipes are used for indoor water plumbing pipe. On a lineal basis, PVC has become the leading pipe material in the United States today, accounting for more than 70 percent of all water and sewer pipe now being installed.
PVC is certified for contact with drinking water by NSF International and offers complete immunity to electrochemical corrosion..
On January 29, 2007, the state of California gave unrestricted approval to CPVC piping for residential plumbing based on a lengthy and thorough environmental impact review by the state’s Department of Housing and Community Development. It had already been approved in 49 other states.
What are the benefits of septic tanks?
Proper sanitation is important to human health and the environment. In Bangladesh, proper sanitation services are absent in urban, sub-urban and rural areas. The current practice is to discharge effluents into sewage systems that essentially dump it into open bodies of water. Lack of proper sanitation makes people prone to cholera, infectious and contagious water borne diseases (such as diarrhea, typhoid), as well as a variety of dermatological diseases (such as scabies.) Some of these diseases have also been found on domestic pets.
The government of Bangladesh is trying to put in place regulatory measures to enforce installation of septic tanks. For example, just recently the government slapped a two-month deadline on owners of riverside houses to install septic tanks to release human waste in a bid to prevent pollution of rivers in Dhaka and its surroundings.
Process Industrial is the only manufacturer of ready-made polymer based septic tanks in Bangladesh. In addition, a special device in the tank allows for the growth of anaerobic bacteria to convert the solid waste into an odorless liquid that can be used as natural fertilizer. Especially in locations where flooding or hurricane damage is likely, it is important to use materials that can get wet and then dry out with minimal damage. Moreover, since sewer lines in Bangladesh are old, leakage prone, and at maximum capacity, septic tanks will help prevent floodwaters from backing up into drains in a house, building, or even streets.

What qualities should I look for when I buy a water tank?
The majority of water tanks sold in Bangladesh use lead based pigments and are not specifically manufactured to ensure that water quality is not compromised. Lead-based pigments are not safe for human health.
Water should be able to withstand severe weather conditions, such as flooding and cyclone. They should be 100% leak-proof and airtight, they provide a very suitable water storage option during drought. Water tanks should be able to withstand saline intrusion as well as other contaminants (algae, dust, insects).
How has the company providing a solution to environmental and human health concerns in Bangladesh?
Process Industrial Company (Process Industrial) has focused its business on manufacturing safe products that improve the environment and contribute to human health. Meticulous care has gone into choosing products and production processes that are environmentally friendly as compared to other alternatives sold in the market. In addition, we want to make sure that our products are safe for human health. We ensure that our manufacturing processes and labor practices are in line with globally recognized standards.
Climate scientists have been speaking out for decades about the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (including methane emissions) in order to avoid a significantly warmer and less liveable future. Now that climate change is finally part of the public discussion, the future is already here—and it’s only getting warmer. Using climate friendly products is an important step toward preventing more drastic warming. These products are also required to ensure that homes and buildings in Bangladesh are better adapted to deal with climate change impacts. Process Industrial has made sure that its products are not only climate friendly, but also have specific environment friendly aspects. A summary of our products is provided below:
PVC Pipes- PVC pipes are environmentally friendly due to the source of the raw material used to make PVC resin. Salt, quite literally abundant everywhere in the world, is used to create the resin that makes up PVC pipes. Salt is unlikely to ever diminish as a natural resource. Additionally, PVC pipes are light enough in weight, that more PVC pipes are transportable per truck load than metal pipes. This fact means that the fuel used in transportation of the material is reduced, contributing to reduction in greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.
Septic Tanks- Septic tanks are an important intervention for both climate change mitigation and adaptation. In terms of climate change mitigation, septic tanks contain methane emissions, which contribute to climate change. The current practice is to discharge effluents into sewage systems that essentially dump it into open bodies of water. This is harmful to ecological systems and human health.
Water Tanks- The majority of water tanks sold in Bangladesh use lead based pigments and are not specifically manufactured to ensure that water quality is not compromised. In Bangladesh, Process Industrial is the only supplier of water tanks that are made with food grade raw materials. Process Industrial’s water tanks have been designed to withstand the saline intrusion as well as other contaminants (algae, dust, insects). In terms of climate change adaptation, this product has been designed to provide a solution to people suffering from fresh water access issues, especially in saline and drought prone areas.
Process Industrial is not only in the production business. It complements its manufacturing with environmental and social awareness messages that are important to its clients, particularly in rural areas. The company has already launched an initiative with its dealers, retailers and plumbers to introduce rain water harvesting techniques in Arsenic prone areas. The company is also planning to launch two parallel nationwide campaigns in all Union Parishads to address safe water access and sanitation issues. The campaign will address the importance and benefits of rain water harvesting, identification of safe sources of fresh water and storage techniques, effective usage of septic tanks and benefits of slurry as (free) liquid natural fertilizer and fish feed.
